Part-Time, Hybrid / Flexible: 20 hours/week
Required in-person time: minimum once weekly during gallery hours and during installations, receptions, and special events. Note: Current Gallery Hours: Friday - Sunday, 12 - 6pm and evening events. Pay: $25 pr/hour
Boston Cyberarts seeks a Gallery Director to work in organizational, curatorial, and collaborative ways, with the mission to expand Boston Cyberarts’ presence and impact in the regional, national/international, and virtual art and technology worlds.
Main duties include managing the gallery’s logistical operations, exhibition schedule, and media outreach.

Boston Cyberarts is a non-profit arts organization founded by George Fifield in 1996 with a mission to foster, develop, and present a wide spectrum of media arts, including emerging and established electronic and digital experimental arts programming. The Boston Cyberarts Gallery supports established media artists, fosters the development of new art practices, and engages with the community via exhibitions, special events, public art projects, educational programs, and collaborations with local organizations. Responsibilities:
Manage all gallery operations and logistics for exhibitions, events, and special projects.
Based on expertise, either curate exhibitions or organize open calls for proposals from outside curators.
Collaborate with Boston Cyberarts’ current art and educational partners for events, exhibitions, screenings, performances, lectures, etc.
Manage the exhibition and event calendar/schedule for the gallery
Schedule and supervise gallery staff, installation/event assistants, and interns to assist artists and guest curators with logistics and technical troubleshooting.
Create publicity materials, including press releases, mailing list emails, website, and social media updates.
Ideal Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of experience as a gallery director, manager, or curator
Excellent written and verbal communication and strong organizational skills
Experience writing press releases, social media, and website updating
Experience scheduling and training staff, volunteers, and/or college interns
Other desirable qualifications include:
Master's degree in Fine Art, Art History, Museum Studies, or related fields
Experience in grant writing
Knowledge of contemporary new media art practices and artists
Gallery installation experience
Ability to problem-solve with a wide range of technology, including video, sound, projection, networking, virtual/augmented reality, etc.
Familiar with the arts community in Boston and New England
Based in the Boston metro area
