PRESS RELEASE

Art pieces including audio-visual experiences, digital/mechanical devices, augmented reality, video games, projection-mapped sculpture, and educational tools will be on view this March in Fresh Media ‘23, at 141 Green St. in Jamaica Plain. This annual student-organized exhibition, featuring work from MFA candidates in the Massachusetts College of Art and Design’s Dynamic Media Institute (DMI), has shown in venues across the city for over a decade, and continues the tradition this year at the CyberArts Gallery, located in the Green St. MBTA Station.

See works-in-progress from MassArt’s DMI graduate program, which focuses on time-based, interactive and computational media art and design. A diverse group of educators, developers, designers and artists explore both analog and digital work, bridging the gap between traditional artistic practices such as drawing and painting and interactive technology including microcontrollers, digital displays and projectors, microphones, video cameras, augmented reality, sensors and a variety of computer platforms.

DMI students’ practices are research-based, resulting in work related to their chosen conceptual areas of focus that seeks to continuously define what dynamic media is today, and what it will be tomorrow. This exhibition provides students with the opportunity to test their interactive prototypes in a public gallery setting, receiving feedback and allowing them to reflect on the work in collaboration with an audience. MassArt is thrilled to continue the Fresh Media tradition at CyberArts Gallery.
