The 20th COLLISIONcollective exhibition will open at the Boston Cyberarts Gallery on Friday, January 17, 2014. Formed by artists and technologists, the COLLISIONcollective is premised on the sometimes abrupt intersection between art and technology. Its practitioners are drawn to this synthesis as the epicenter of forward-looking cultural adaptation.

“COLLISION20:bilocate largely featured work that explores the ability of art to create a conceptual and perceptual overlap, tenuously enabling the viewer and the work to exist in more than one place at the same time. Once considered a miracle, bilocation has become not only possible but commonplace through the pervasive use of recording and communications technology. The works in COLLISION20:bilocate employ diverse techniques to arrive at this effect, ranging from literal transposition to gently suggestive metaphor. COLLISION20:bilocate samples and amplifies the overlapping and diverse range of work produced by artists living under the influence of technology.”
