Umass Boston Art Department Presents: Electronic Art on the Waterways Series


UMass Boston coast guard vessel leaves from campus on Columbia Point and explores Electronic Art in the coastal waterways.

Join Assistant Professor of Art Cat Mazza’s digital media class aboard the 64-foot coast guard vessel for a lecture by artist and writer Greg Sholette on his new book Dark Matter: Art and Politics in the Age of Enterprise Culture. Sholette will touch on collective art practices use of new technologies. The boat ride starts at Fox Point Dock on UMass campus and stops on a pier near the Institute for Contemporary Art where passengers can see new public artwork using augmented reality by John Craig Freeman and Mark Skarwek. Boat arrives in time for the opening reception of the festival down the street at CyberartsCentral at Atlantic Wharf. Departure from UMass Boston 3:00pm. Estimated arrival time at pier near ICA 4:00pm.
