Summarize the convocations ideas and put a preliminary
paper on the web, get the group's feedback, and then deliver final to
Creative Council and then use as a focus for future initiatives.

The Greater Boston Arts & Business Council can put
in place an engineer volunteer program. Work with Art/Interactive.
- The on-line registry is a major program. Boston Cyberarts has agreed
to start this process. Funding needs to be secured. Discuss with NEFA
the possibility of them taking it on. Everyone needs to pitch in to
find out who these orgs are, their contact info, what they can offer,
and create a group registry. An
infrastructure for registry database already exists, but we need
to market it so that people use it and it supports a community. A
registry should have a number of categories. One is a registry of
individuals and organizations involved in art and technology, another
is registry of resources, and a third category would be for
scientists/engineers who are looking to volunteer with artists.
Promote registry in magazines, get funding from foundations.
- Put together advisor board for awards to companies doing art and
tech residences and talk to NEC about hosting the awards.
- Support local art and technology consortiums. In Boston, there is
the ATBoston non-profit art and technology consortium. In Providence
SEADS is starting up. Link to other consortiums and see how they can
partner. Consider how many of these initiatives these local
consortiums can take on.
- Organizations should combine mailing lists
- Stay in touch. Quarterly mixers at local restaurants (Companies
donate food and drink). Present lectures and workshops, have
discussions following. Establish greater outreach to the traditional
arts community in addition to technology companies and educational
institutions.
- Research high technology incubator spaces with an eye to starting
one for artists who wish to start businesses.
- Research successful models of independent non-profit tech-based art
organizations throughout the world. An excellent start to this has
been just published by Leonardo/ISAST "Arts
Lab" Report that identifies numerous models and discusses
issues of sustainability.
